Be a Star with your Executive team and your employees during Benefits Renewal and Open Enrollment:  Employee benefits trends and tips

Regardless of employer size, competitive employee benefits packages and effective total rewards strategies are very important, and during good economic times, vital to an organizations overall success.  HR professionals at all levels need to proactively be informed of innovative solutions and key trends that will find their way to Leadership, even if HR isn’t bringing these ideas to the organization.  Why not be the star by bringing a proactive and consultative approach to your organization?  Key takeaways that attendees can expect to better understand from this presentation:   

 

  • Vendor trends:  technology vendor opportunities are abundant and insurance market competition is fierce, especially today when compared to years prior.  You will learn about valid new solutions and/or trends; likely some that you haven’t considered or had presented to you to-date.  In addition to sharing very important market trends for Arizona, we will also cover some “bright and shiny objects” in the employee benefits industry. 
  • Benefit broker roles / case study:  what are different brokers and/or benefits consultants doing to proactively bring solutions to the table and are they always acting in the best interest of client and their employees? 
  • Renewal timeline and open enrollment timeline:   sample timelines to review best practices regarding ideal planning horizon to have the best renewal and open enrollment experience. 
  • Make Open Enrollment a better employee (and employer) experience:  the majority of employers acknowledge that they can make improvements to their open enrollment and ongoing employee engagement, we will review strategies that are helping employers standout from their competition.  Benefits open enrollment should be prioritized/leveraged as it’s all about the employee experience! 

 

Brent Tregaskes, Principal & Lead Consultant

Brent Tregaskes is the Founder/Principal of Optimal Benefits Professionals, a Phoenix based employee benefits and human resources advisory firm.  Prior to founding his firm, Brent worked primarily at Fortune 500 insurance carriers, brokers and pharmaceutical companies. He has two decades of experience working as a strategic advisor with employers of all sizes, varying from small businesses to employers with 5000+ employees. His experience includes transitioning fully-insured employers to self-funded benefit plans, leveraging HR and benefits administration technologies, tailoring wellness/health rewards programs and advising employers to achieve improved employee recruitment and retention results through effective total rewards and culture strategies.  Over the course of his career, he scrutinized the intricacies (and inefficiencies) of the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries.  One aspect he found most disturbing were the obvious conflicts of interest that exist within these industries, especially the component that he knew could be changed; the traditional employee benefits broker model. 

Realizing that his passion would be best suited to consult and advocate directly with employers, Brent seized the opportunity and started his firm in early 2016.  His team thrives by growing a business focused on bringing effective solutions to employers/employees, whom have become frustrated after years of double-digit renewal increases, through an ethical and transparent approach.  Brent's motto when founding Optimal Benefits Professionals (OBP) was, and will continue to be, "Challenging the status quo of traditional employee benefits brokers".  His firm’s business model emphasizes integrity in all they do, to include quality work, hands on customer service, and honorable decisions through authentic relationships.
